(required): i am currently employed as a PA, where i support a young lady with ASD, i have been employed in this role for the last 3 years, and previously before this is supported another young woman with ASD for 3 years also. alongside this my partner and soon are both diagnoses with ASD and ADHD, so i have a wealth of experience in dealing with difficulties that are related to these conditions. i also volunteer for the local national autistic society during their weekly sessions and events.What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): having understanding and being patient are very important when working with a disabled person as they need to feel valued and understood, respected as an individual and not seen as their disability as this doesnt define them as a person. being non judgmental and allowing a person to express themselves and being aware that not very person with the same disability is affected in the same ways and things that help someone may negatively effect another. you need to be trustworthy as the person will need to depend on you and be friendly an open to be able to build a positive rapport between you and themHow do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): i think i can contribute by taking time initially to find out the needs and wants of the person and working out how i am best suited to meet their needs and work on developing a relationship with them so they feel comfortable and confident with me whilst out in public and taking part in activities. i am aware of some local activities that are inclusive and welcoming and im always willing to try and find new activities to try and explore.What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): as i currently work as a pa I have seen the difference having someone to provide support can make to a have a positive impact on a persons life and that gives me satisfaction from doing my job, seeing a person grow in confidence and interact with community help me feel like ive had a positive impact upon someones and that is what appeals to me about PA work.What are your hobbies/interests?: alot of my free time is taken up by caring for my partner and son, but when i get the chance i love the cinema, i enjoy walking my dogs, socalising. i used to enjoy laying bingo but rarely get the chance currently.Would you consider a casual position if you are unsuccessful with this job?
