I have had quite a few jobs due to the fact that many charity jobs were fixed term contracts so I often found myself moving from post to post. I learned a lot though - and it helped me become a more rounded person. Empathy, ability to think on your feet, the ability to empower rather than take over, and a positive can do attitude helps as well. A good understanding of your charges condition and their preferences will help to keep everyone safe and happy, and good communication should ensure that needs are being met in a respectful and fair way.How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I have worked in a variety of roles over the years that have given me experience in providing personal care, social support, light duties around the home and out in the community, so am confident that I can help people experiencing disability in a variety of ways. I have worked with Children and adults in support roles and absolutely adore working with families as it is very important to me to make a positive impact on young people and their families. I love helping others to reach their full potential, which is why I was particularly drawn to this post as the lady states that she is aiming to get back to work in the future. I think that I will be able to help with this as I can be very flexible at this point in my life which should help meet the needs of the client and her daughter. Most importantly in a Mother / Child family - I will know when to step back so as not to impede the parent/child relationship.What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I absolutely loved working for the NHS in Devon helping people with a wide variety of needs maintain their health and wellbeing at home and really miss the lovely interactions and moments we shared whilst helping them to regain a sense of control and wellbeing in their lives.
