VOG1133 Personal Assistant JOB DESCRIPTION Part-Time Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am a gentleman living in Barry. I will be 90 in September. I was a professional footballer and love to watch sports especially football. I have limited mobility now, bit doddery but can walk from one room to another and am still able to do my personal care although may need some help dressing on occasion. I am hard of hearing so you will need to speak a little louder than the normal. I love to do the morning crosswords and read the papers. I was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 2 years ago so my memory is not great, however I can still hold a conversation just may not remember it later. My daughter lives with me but works full time so it will be good to have a little company to break up the day. I am confined to the house so I am looking for a cheerful person to lift my spirits. I also have a good sense of humour. Not dead yet! A driver would be an advantage, incase I have a hospital appointment but not a gamechanger as my daughter usually does this anyway. PURPOSE OF THE JOB Provide day to day living support within my home, assisting my daughter with her caring role. HOURS OF WORK 19.25 hours per week to be shared between 2 carers. Please note, as a job share you will not be offered 19.25 hours, but only a portion of hours depending on your availability. Please specify on your application the hours you are looking for. The hours include morning, afternoon and evening calls as follows – 7-9am 12-1pm 4.30-5.30pm RATES OF PAY £15.25 per hour TASKS WILL INCLUDE Supervision and support; ensuring my well-being and safety at all times Preparing meals for me at home – either breakfast, lunch, supper depending the time you’re working General tidying up following food prep Other light household chores such as hoovering and taking out recycling Ensuring I maintain a good diet by prompting me to eat and drink what is given to me Engaging me in conversation over a cup of tea TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED Reliable Cheerful Good communicator Good energy Good sense of humour Initiative and good common sense Can read and help with my crosswords Speak clearly as I am hard of hearing Previous care experience with vulnerable older people Car driver with access to own car ABOUT THE JOB This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority. All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins. Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period. Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
