JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 27 year old female and live in the Llanrumney area.  I am seeking a personal assistant to support my morning routine and other tasks. I value independence and may need assistance or support based on my capabilities each day. I am a disabled ambulatory power wheelchair user and I use a variety of aids to support myself throughout the day. I have multiple chronic conditions, the primary ones being; Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Functional Neurologic Disorder (FND). I also have an Ileostomy. I have Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (cPTSD) and Anxiety.

Although I experience many symptoms throughout my day I manage these mostly independently and all training/information will be provided as we work together.

I live with my husband and our two dogs. I'm a crafty person and love to spend time outside when possible. Although I prefer to keep routine I do have to maintain some flexibility due to work, doctors appointments and my scouting commitments.

Successful applicant must be comfortable around dogs as I have two. They are lively but will provide hours of entertainment.

PLACE OF WORK

Support in my home to enable me to live more independently.

HOURS OF WORK

I am more comfortable with fewer PA’s. I only require one PA for a task however, for scheduling and timing purposes I’d be willing to consider 2 PA’s. If some of the hours aren’t suitable but others are do apply and we can discuss this at interview.

12.5hrs on average per week.

Morning Personal Care: Monday to Friday for 2hrs, either 7:30 - 9:30 or 8:00-10:00 (open to alternative timings in the morning).

5 hrs of support every 2 weeks for support with meal prep.

Bi weekly meal prep day to be discussed at interview stage there is some flexibility in this.

RATE OF PAY

£14.10 per hour

TASKS INVOLVED

  • Support in: showering, washing hair or bathing.
  • Personal care reminders: brushing teeth, using medical aids and changing ostomy bag.
  • Support putting clothes away and some support with dressing.
  • Some support in preparing breakfast
  • For twice weekly meal prep support with: putting shopping away and meal preparation - you don’t need to be able to cook, as long as you can follow direction and pass me the relevant ingredients. I love to cook however, the physicality can be difficult as well as the heat in the kitchen.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

  • Female PA due to personal care tasks.
  • Good communication skills, scheduling and time management.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Reliable, empathetic, trustworthy and friendly
  • I am 27 years old and humour is my default. We will get on well if you are a fun, bubbly person with a good sense of humour.
  • Experience is preferred but not essential. All aspects can be learnt along the way. Some understanding of my conditions may be useful but is not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence - not essential.
  • Must be comfortable around dogs, I have two 3 year old dogs that are full of energy and would love to be friends.
