JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

About me

 

I’m a 40-year-old autistic person living in the Cathays area of Cardiff.

I experience anxiety and depression, and I’m looking for someone who can support me in day-to-day life with a mix of practical help and social encouragement. I have a dry, dark sense of humour and can be an acquired taste – it may take a little time to get to know me (and me know you).

 

 

My interests include:

 

Arts and crafts

Film and TV

Lego building

Theatre and live performance

 

About you

You should be a good communicator who’s proactive, encouraging, and flexible. You should understand the importance of patience and adaptability, and should be comfortable supporting someone who may need time to build trust. Ideally you should own your own car and be happy to help with transport to essential things such as shopping and appointments.

 

Place of work

 

At home and out in the community and taking to events as when needed.

 

HOURS OF WORK

 

3 hours per week.

£14.65 per hour.

 

 

 

Key responsibilities

 

Help with decluttering, cleaning, and maintaining a tidy home

Support with meal planning

Provide lifts to the supermarket and assist with food shopping

Help arranging and transport to appointments

Help accessing social activities and events

Help accessing cinema, theatre, galleries, museums, and gigs

 

Essential requirements

 

Push and motivate me to achieve my goals and aspirations

Be dynamic and flexible, capable of handling diverse situations

Show empathy while maintaining a positive attitude and good sense of humour

Provide motivation and be trustworthy

Enjoy contributing to my personal growth and development

Demonstrate confidence and social skills

Possess basic technology skills with laptops and phones

Have a car and be able to drive (Essential)

Appreciate music (Preferred but not essential).

 

Desirable

Interest in arts, crafts, or creative hobbies

Experience in mental health or autism support (formal or informal)

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB

 

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
