CDP399 Personal Assistant to Adult Quote ref: CDP399 on application form Apply now Closing date: 16/10/2024 A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF A personal assistant(s) is required to provide support to an 19-year-old young man who has autism and learning disabilities living in the Rhiwbina area. The personal assistant will provide opportunities to enable the individual to engage in varied activities such as walking the dog, practising road safety (crossing roads safely), 10 pin bowling, adventure golf, cinema and swimming etc. PURPOSE OF JOB Supporting me within my home and out & about PLACE OF WORK At my home and in my local community. HOURS OF WORK 11 hours per week: 6 hours - Sundays (Flexible), 2 x 2.5 hours for activity sessions weekday evenings. Also, 5 hours once every 4 weeks on either Friday or Saturday evening. RATE OF PAY £12.60 per hour TASKS INVOLVED · To motivate and assist with reading & writing etc · To support and engage in activities as required. · To encourage opportunities for social interaction. · To promote independence. · To ensure the young person is safe at all times whilst out and about. · To take me to activities – as previously mentioned (PA to be in pool supervising young person at all times to ensure safety) TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED · To be mindful and understanding of my conditions · To be patient and reliable · To be dependable and punctual · To adhere to confidentiality · To be caring, friendly, and chatty. · Must have a fun outlook · Must be honest and trustworthy. · Must have full enhanced up to date DBS check. · Must have experience of working with young people with autism and learning disabilities. · Car owner driver and class one business use. · Must be fully Covid vaccinated. ABOUT THE JOB The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority). The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK before you start work. Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four weekly and appropriate holiday pay given.
