About Me

I am a 16-year-old boy living in the Abercynon area. I have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and I am currently awaiting assessment for ADHD and Tourette’s.

I am verbal and physically able, but I require supervision at all times due to limited safety awareness and anxiety. I can be sensitive to raised voices and may become distressed if I am told “no” frequently. I also experience some sensory sensitivities, particularly with clothing, noise, and smells.

I enjoy gaming and would like support creating content for YouTube and Instagram. I also like swimming, going out for food, and car rides. I would benefit from support in building and maintaining friendships, as well as encouragement to try new activities and experiences.

Purpose of the Role

To support me in the community and during social activities, helping me build confidence, independence, and social skills in a safe and positive way.

Hours of Work

6 hours per week

Pay

£16.60 per hour

Key Responsibilities

Accompanying me when out in the community
Taking me to activities I enjoy (e.g., swimming, meals out, drives)
Supporting me to create content for YouTube and Instagram
Assisting with some personal care (e.g., changing clothing)
Supporting me in developing and maintaining friendships
Encouraging me to try new experiences
Ensuring my safety at all times
Promoting independence and positive social interaction

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will be:

A positive role model, open to conversation on a variety of topics
Kind, patient, and understanding
Friendly with a good sense of humour
Calm and not easily offended

Desirable:

Knowledge or understanding of stimming and autism-related needs

Essential:

Full UK driving licence
Access to a vehicle with business class insurance

Additional Information

This is a formal part-time role; a National Insurance number is required
A trial period will be undertaken initially
Wages are paid monthly, with holiday pay entitlement
