JOB DESCRIPTION

Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 22 year old with autism living in the Pentre area of RCT. I identify as non-binary and use the pronouns “they”, “them” and “their”.

I am a very talkative and bubbly character who is easy to get along with. I enjoy listening to a variety of music but also enjoy the opera on rare occasions. I enjoy visiting Pugh’s garden centre and seeing the fish but hate the spiders and bugs. I enjoy being artistic, especially painting. I enjoy cooking but not doing the dishes! I also have an interest in dinosaurs, cows, armadillos and pangolins.

I attend the Autism Life Centre and love going there. I also like to learn about myself and how my autism affects me and then how to regulate my own emotions. I sometimes suffer what I call ‘meltdowns’ and require sensory input (squeezing my hands or head) to help calm me down. My meltdowns can involve me being violent towards myself but never towards others. I do not like being lightly touched ever.

I can be very anxious and suffer from panic attacks and if I’m struggling I can sometimes struggle to verbally communicate, in this instance I will either write things down, utilise my emotion cards or my AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) app. I also have a noise sensitivity and sometimes wear headphones to block out noise. Sometimes I experience spells of non-epileptic staring which I would like to record in my book.
