(required): When working as a personal assistant with a disabled person, it is important to be respectful, patient, and reliable. Every individual has different needs, preferences, and routines, so being flexible and person-centred is essential. A good personal assistant should listen carefully, follow instructions, and support the individual in a way that promotes independence rather than taking over. Good communication skills are also very important, including being able to communicate clearly, ask questions when needed, and respect confidentiality and privacy at all times. This could include assisting with daily tasks, providing encouragement, and adapting my support to suit their abilities, helping them maintain confidence and independence. Good communication and reliability are also key. By being consistent, punctual, and trustworthy, I can help create a safe and supportive environment where the person feels comfortable and in control.
