Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I have experience as a professional cook. This has given me all of the relevant skills when it comes to food preparation. In addition, I have experience as a sitter. This has helped me develop the flexibility that is required when working in another persons home. It can be an extremely vulnerable setting and understanding the dynamic and treating it with respect is a skill that I have developed over my time as a sitter.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): The most important thing is treating the other person with dignity. In my own experience when I have experienced a medical difficulty feeling the constraints on my abilities has been frustrating but that was nothing compared to the feelings of embarassment about that situation. That helped me appreciate that the most important things in such matters is making the person feel like a person. Yes, they may need help, but they are still a complex person with wants, needs, and complications. I want to be able to be there with them to allow them to be a free and dignified person.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am a curious, punctual, and responsible person. I have lived on my own and with others and have various life skills that I can offer up to make someone elses life easier. From cooking, cleaning, getting dressed, and personal care, I believe I can assist in all of the relevant tasks that may be needed.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): The position appeals to me because it is so important. So much work these days can feel so lacking in meaning. The effort that you put in often has very nebulous and abstract outputs, who is it benefitting? What good is it doing for the world? Being a PA is a refreshing change of pace, it is such an important job and I would love to be involved in the process of making someones life more the life that they want.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I am very passionate about film and philosophy. I am writing my dissertation on the topics! I love thinking, reading, writing, and watching films/television shows (so those box sets that were mentioned in the job description would make me a great fit!). In addition I like weight lifting, going for walks, cooking, and spending time with friends. I am Jewish and I believe the most important thing is spending time with our fellow humans and thinking about the big questions of the Human experience.

Do you speak any other languages? if so what do you speak?  (required): I have intermediate Spanish competency.

What days/nights are you able to work, or prefer to work?  (required): Mornings would be better for me than evenings, as most of my academic work is in the evenings. But I am of course flexible.
