Experience includes -Meal Prep -Special interests of client -leisure walks in the community and into the city -attending special interest groups, such as DnD, visiting cafés, bookshops, etc. -Creative conversations -I am a guitar player, illustration graduate and a huge fan of animation, fantasy, video games, music, history, cars, and general knowledge. -I am patient, considerate and curious, and experienced in de-escalating issues. What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I feel that Patience, reliability, adaptability and openness is most important for helping a disabled individual. How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I feel that I’m open to learning new things and interests. And I find that comfortable and supportive communication can help boost a person’s confidence and self esteem, especially if the person is prone to feeling isolated. What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): Being a high functioning autistic adult, I have experience with understanding the day to day challenges that many autistic people tend to deal with, such as sensory issues, social anxiety, and communication difficulties. I also have relatives who are disabled, such as my older brother, and my cousin-whom I also assist. It’s because of these factors, that I feel able to assist and support those in my work.
