Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am a friendly, reliable, and caring young person with strong experience supporting people with additional needs, and I am keen to begin my career in community care. Although this would be my first paid role, I have developed practical skills and a mature, compassionate approach through my responsibilities at home and through college. For the past several years, I have been an unpaid carer for my disabled mother and autistic brother. This has given me hands on experience with personal care, daily routines, mobility support, communication with services, and creating a calm, structured environment. These responsibilities have taught me patience, empathy, problem solving, and the ability to stay calm under pressure — qualities that are essential when supporting someone’s independence and wellbeing.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I am confident communicating with people of all ages and needs, and I always aim to treat others with dignity, respect, and understanding. I am organised, reliable, and able to follow instructions carefully while also using my initiative when needed. My experience in pet care and maintaining clients’ routines has also strengthened my sense of responsibility, trustworthiness, and attention to detail.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I am really good at cleaning, cooking and all household chores. I have experience of the conditions this lady has and so understand how this can impact daily living.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I live locally and so am able to get to work easily. I know about local activities that happen in the local Hub, at the Dusty Forge and the SVP centre as well as in Western Leisure Centre. I am a friendly person and love to chat and so I feel I am an easy going person who would be able to support this lady to be as independent as possible.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I love dogs and so feel with my experience of unpaid care and having a small dog walking business - this opportunity would fit well. I like gardening, watch TV shows, Walking, Shopping, I am a trained hairdresser and so I like hair and beauty too.
