Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am dedicated and compassionate support worker with over 20 years experience of providing dignified, personal care. My background includes working as a personal assistant where I supported an individual with daily living tasks, managed behaviour that challenge and built strong therapeutic relationships with the individual and their family. When employed by Rehab Without Walls I delivered comprehensive personal care to a service user with cerebral palsy, facilitated social experiences, maintained cleanliness, prepared meals and followed physiotherapist guidelines. Additionally I hold relevant qualifications such as NVQ level 3 in adult care and city, guilds in adult community care and level 2 in food hygiene.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): Compassion and to listen to the person you’re supporting and not to take away the person’s independence. To be reliable and to understand the importance of confidentiality. Working positively with a sense of humour

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): By supporting with community involvements. Promoting independence and supporting the individuals choices

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I enjoy building a relationship with an individual and having the time to get to know them. I like that there’s no 2 days the same and I have the opportunity to try new things

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I have 2 dogs who enjoy a long walk I go travelling in my Campervan I’m trying to learn Welsh Cooking and reading
