(required): I have experience working as a carer and personal assistant, supporting individuals with daily living activities both at home and in the community. My duties have included personal care, meal preparation, companionship, and supporting individuals with appointments and outings. I am medically qualified as a doctor, which gives me a strong understanding of health conditions and patient care. This helps me to recognise symptoms, respond calmly in emergencies, and provide safe and effective support. I am patient, reliable, and compassionate, and I understand the importance of dignity and respect in care. I am confident in supporting individuals with conditions such as epilepsy and promoting independence and wellbeing. I always provide person-centred care and aim to build trusting and supportive relationships. What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I believe the most important qualities are patience, empathy, and reliability. A personal assistant should be respectful, kind, and able to listen carefully to the individual’s needs and preferences. It is also very important to be calm and confident, especially when supporting someone with a health condition such as epilepsy. Good communication skills and the ability to build trust are essential. I also believe in promoting dignity, independence, and providing consistent, person-centred support. How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I can contribute by supporting the individual in a way that promotes independence while ensuring their safety and wellbeing. I would encourage them to make their own choices and support them in daily activities both at home and in the community. With my caring experience and medical background, I am able to recognise changes in health and respond appropriately when needed. I would provide calm and reassuring support, especially in situations related to epilepsy. I aim to create a positive, supportive environment where the individual feels comfortable, respected, and confident in their daily life. What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): What appeals to me about PA work is the opportunity to support individuals in a more personal and meaningful way. I enjoy building trusting relationships and helping people to live independently and with dignity. I find it very rewarding to make a positive difference in someone’s daily life, both at home and in the community. (required): In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking, and listening to music. I also enjoy crocheting and reading, which I find relaxing and rewarding. I am interested in wellbeing and helping others, and I enjoy supporting people to stay active and engaged in activities they enjoy.
