(required): Yes Please read the Job Description carefully before providing information in this Section of the Application Form. Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I am a compassionate and reliable individual with hands-on experience in providing personal care and support. Through caring for my daughter on the autism spectrum, I have developed patience, understanding, and the ability to adapt to individual needs with empathy and consistency. This experience has strengthened my communication skills and my awareness of the importance of dignity and respect in care. In addition, my background in hospitality and catering has equipped me with strong interpersonal skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments. I am attentive to people’s needs, organised, and committed to providing a high standard of care and support. I take pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and positive environment for those I assist. What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): The most important qualities when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person are compassion, respect and being patient. Being observant and having good communication skills including body language are very important, as they help build trust and ensure the individual feels understood and feels comfortable when changes in mood for example would happen. Reliability and consistency are key, as the individual you support may depend on you for daily routines and maintaining their independence. Most importantly promoting independence and creating a safe, supportive environment are crucial to being a personal assistant. How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I believe that I can contribute to the needs and independence of a disabled person by providing person-centred care. As a mother to a disabled person I have learned the importance of encouragement rather than taking over to allow the other person to be able to do as much for themselves as possible to allow them to feel somewhat in control of their life through this. My experiences have taught me to also be very attentive and adapt to situations that can be very challenging and stressful. What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I have made a decision to change careers and become a personal care assistant because I feel my current position does not allow me to reach my full potential and as I genuinely care about helping others and making a positive difference in someone’s daily life I feel I would thrive in a PA role. Through my experience caring for my daughter on the autism spectrum, I have seen how important the right support can be in building confidence, comfort, and independence. What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I often enjoy reading books, staying active by going for long walks often accompanied by my daughter.
