Give details of your previous employment or experience which you think would help you to do this job. (required): I have 12 GCSEs including English and Maths, 3 A Levels, an Art and Design diploma Fine Art BA (Hons) And MFA (master of fine art) I have worked in support since 2018. After enjoying helping disabled friends at university when their support was unavailable I began working as a personal support assistant to university students for 7 years. This would mainly include note taking, companionship for autistic students and assistance to physically disabled students. During the coronavirus pandemic I worked as a domiciliary care and support worker visiting mainly elderly people in their homes providing personal care, domestic, meal and medication assistance. For the past 3 years I have been working with autistic adults with learning disabilities in a day service which varies from personal care, support going to activities and learning new skills. I work with another person through Dewis, we mainly go out, I drive their motability car and ensure they are safe while doing things they love.

What qualities do you think are important when working as a personal assistant with a disabled person? (required): I try to listen and be patient, ensure you are safe if that is needed and assist you achieve your goals. It’s important to me that you are comfortable, I’m very happy to meet to see if you think I would be a good fit. I wish for it to be as easy as possible for you to have someone in your home and providing support you are comfortable with.

How do you think you can contribute towards the needs and the independence of a disabled person? (required): I believe in person-centered care completely and will be led by your needs. Doing ‘with’ rather than ‘for’ an individual wherever possible. I am patient and will listen to you.

What is it about PA work which appeals to you? (required): I really enjoy the opportunity to be a part of assisting people to achieve their goals.

What are your hobbies/interests? (required): I do a lot of crochet, knitting and weaving. I do some printing and drawing. I really enjoy gardening and reading. I love animals.

Would you consider a casual position if you are unsuccessful with this job? (required): Yes
