JOB DESCRIPTION 

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 11 year old boy living in Treherbert with my family.

I have a rare genetic condition called CHARGE Syndrome which restricts me to what I can do.

I’m a happy, easy-going, well-behaved child, but cheeky in a fun way. I am non-verbal and am peg fed via a gastrostomy.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My mum is looking to employ two Personal Assistants to support me socially, and on occasion support me in the home. You will support my parents to have respite.  

HOURS OF WORK

Two PA required to cover 6 hours per week; 2:1.

Days and times of work can be flexible and shifts will only be for a couple of hours at a time.

RATES OF PAY 

£13.00 per hour

Mileage is paid at 40p per mile

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

·         Supporting with social activities such as going to the park

·         Ensuring my safety at all times

·         Other activities/outings of my choosing

·         Supporting with morning or evening routines, getting ready for school or bedtime

·         Changing my nappy

·         Playing with me and making sure I am clean and tidy

·         Helping my mum with small tasks around the home

·         Taking me to school

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·         Willing to work alongside another PA; work as part of a team

·         Punctual – Turn up on time and must be sure to let us know in advance if running late for any reason

·         Responsible and trustworthy

·         Experience of working with and caring for children

·         Friendly and caring

·         You must respect confidentiality

·         Car driver with license, your car boot must be able to fit a wheelchair

·         You must be willing to accept training and guidance from my parents in how to best support my needs

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
