JOB DESCRIPTION

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a man in my 70’s living in a flat in the Llwydcoed, Aberdare area. I have vascular dementia and I was diagnosed 12 years ago. I have worked all my life, first in a factory and then in Ysguborwen Care Home. I also have diabetes, which is a condition that affects all parts of my physical and mental health. I am a social person and I enjoy going out to the shops and to local cafes / restaurants.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The main purpose of the job is to provide me with social support in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

Casual hours to cover as and when required if the PAs are sick or on holiday

Hours likely to be worked between Monday to Saturday

I have 18 hours per week available, equivalent to 101 holiday hours that would need covering per full holiday year

RATES OF PAY

£12.40 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

  • Ensure my needs are met and that I am safe
  • Keep me occupied and provide me with company
  • Support me in the community (Aberdare/Merthyr town centre)
  • Help me access some light shopping in Iceland and go for a meal
  • Provide personal care / Continence care at the end of each visit
  • Any other reasonable tasks

  • Considerate, caring and trustworthy
  • Knowledge of how my conditions affects me
  • Driver, with own vehicle and business class insurance

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly and appropriate holiday pay given.

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).

The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK.
