SOMETHING ABOUT ME

I am a disabled teenage boy aged 17 and I live in the Cwmbach area of RCT with my Mum, Dad and younger sisters.

I have Dystonia – A Complex Motor Disorder and use an electric wheelchair to get around.  I use a Communication Aid.

I have a wicked personality and sense of humour.  I enjoy Jokes, Banter and having a laugh.  I love listening to music and going to watch football.

I am very sociable and enjoy being around others.

Due to my physical disability, I am totally dependent on others for support and assistance throughout the day.

I enjoy going out and about, attending the local Youth Club and driving my electric wheelchair.

PLACE OF WORK 

At my home and in the local area of Cwmbach

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

My Mum and Dad are looking to employ a Personal Assistant to help me build my social skills and independence. They will provide me with support, which will include personal care, taking me out socially and providing a sitting service.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 15 hours per week Term Time and 30 hours per week during School Holidays.

The hours can be used flexibly after school but preferably looking for the following set hours - 

Monday 5.30 pm – 8.00pm

Wednesday 5.30pm – 8.00pm

Friday 5.30pm – 8.00pm 

Flexible hours during school holidays

I am looking for 2 PAs ideally who can share these hours.

RATE OF PAY

£13.50 per hour

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

·         Accompanying me to the local Youth Club and supporting me to access the activities

·         Occasionally going to different places that I enjoy, i.e. the park, bowling,

·         Personal care

·         On occasions support with dressing

·         Sitting service/respite care

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·         A person who is Reliable.

·         Someone who is hands on and as an Outgoing Personality

·         Be able to drive my accessible van and has a clean driving licence

·         A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

·         Someone with a good sense of humour.

·         Someone who is outgoing, energetic and likes to have fun

·         Someone who is confident, mature and has patience

·         Someone who can be flexible 

ABOUT THE JOB

I will be your legal employer so you will need a National Insurance number. Pay will be monthly and appropriate paid annual leave is given. There will be trial period involved and a police check will be necessary (which I will arrange). Safeguarding Children Level 3 Training Course MUST be completed within 3 months of commencing in post
