Personal Assistant

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am 29 year old man living with my family in the Barry area. I like going out locally to say Barry Island, the high street and Barry town Centre.  Occasionally I will travel by public transport to Cardiff.

In Cardiff I enjoy Gaming Bars, Ten-Pin Bowling, Mini Golf and shopping.

I have been diagnosed with Autistic Traits and communication disabilities. I don’t always know when to stop talking, and I don’t always understand body language. I sometimes get frustrated with myself if I can’t express things

I am seeking a Personal Assistant (PA) to help me gain confidence and independence.

I will need guidance with purchases, assistance with road safety and very importantly, my food intake. By choice I am strict Vegan and would need respect in that area.

PURPOSE OF JOB

To assistant me out in the community, encourage my independence and confidence and to ensure my safety at all times.

PLACE OF WORK

Mostly out in the community.

HOURS OF WORK

One day a week (ideally Monday or Friday) for 6 hours

RATE OF PAY

£13.65 per hour

20 miles a week paid at 40p a mile.

TASKS INVOLVED

·        Going out locally in Barry.

·        Going on the bus to Cardiff.

·        Ensuring my safety at all times.

·        Assisting with road safety.

·        Guidance with purchases and money.

·        Monitoring my food intake.

 

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·        Punctual and reliable.

·        Firm but fair.

·        Will respect my wishes and views.

·        Encourage my independence.

·        Willing to accompany me on public transport.

·        Honest and trustworthy.

·        Business class insurance required.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period will be necessary in the first instance.  The wage will be paid monthly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the employer (Local Authority).The relevant checks will be carried out to ensure any applicant has the right to work in the UK
