JOB DESCRIPTION

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a 10 year old girl living in the St Athan area with my family. I am a loud and bubbly girl who very much enjoys receiving attention. I enjoy trampolining, going to parks, going on walks, playing video and board games, playing the piano and I love penguins.

I have a diagnosis of autism and ADHD and have no sense of danger. I can run off and I do not respond well to being shouted at. I can also try to get a reaction from people and sometimes do this by being rude and saying inappropriate words.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To take me out into the community to undertake in social activities or staying in the house when I do not want to go out and doing activities at home. This will provide my family with some respite.

HOURS OF WORK

I have 3 hours a week available and these will be used in one shift. I am flexible on what days will be used but it could be weekends or afternoons after school.

RATES OF PAY 

£12.80 per hour plus 40p per mile where applicable.

TASKS CAN INCLUDE

·          Going out into the community and doing activities I enjoy. Can include: trampolining, parks, walks, McDonalds etc.

·          Doing activities at home together. Can Include: video games, board games, piano etc.

·          Ensuring my safety at all times, especially when out in the community.

·          Being sensitive with me and wording things in ways that suit me.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

·          Someone who understands autism or with experience of working with autistic children is desirable.

·          A kind and caring person.

·          Someone with patience and who is willing to build a relationship with me.

·          Someone who is quite active.

·          A person not easily offended when I try to get a reaction from you.

·          A reliable and punctual person.

·          A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.

ABOUT THE JOB

This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted.  A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living.  You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
